Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) empowers our mission of excellent patient care, innovative research and quality professional education.
Research shows that when your workforce reflects your patient population, patients have better outcomes. Diverse teams are also more innovative. By creating a diverse workforce, we are better able to deliver high-quality, culturally competent, family-centered care.
We consistently seek opportunities to embrace and leverage the variety of personal experiences, values and worldviews that arise from differences of culture and circumstance.
By embracing and celebrating these differences, we can continue to make breakthroughs that will improve the lives of children around the world — and create an environment where every person who walks through our doors will feel at home.
Family resources
We offer a variety of services and programs to support patients and families, with the goal of making your experience with our healthcare network as easy and comfortable as possible.
Statement of support for the health and well-being of transgender youth
CHOP is committed to providing the highest-quality gender-affirming care to our LGBTQIA+ patients. We stand with our colleagues at other children’s hospitals and transgender and non-binary (TNB) youth and their families across the globe. We invite you to urge your senators to pass the proposed expansions of the Equality Act to ensure protections against state laws that target TNB youth.
CHOP Joins Pennsylvania Hospitals to Combat Racism
We, along with other Philadelphia-area hospitals, are committed to combating racism, inequality and discrimination in all forms.
Community resources
Our commitment to diversity and inclusion extends to the work we do throughout our community, in our outreach programs and in how we approach our business partnerships.
With its Supplier Diversity Program, Children’s Hospital has emphasized creating a registry of suppliers and contractors that mirrors the diversity of our employees, patient families, board of trustees and the communities we serve and support every day.
