More donation options

  • Stocks and mutual funds: By making this type of gift, you can avoid paying capital gains tax that would otherwise be due if you sold these assets.
  • Donor Advised Fund (DAF): If you have established a DAF, consider recommending a grant to CHOP.
  • Qualified Charitable Distribution from your IRA:
    • To qualify:
      • You must be 70 1/2 years or older when you make the transfer to CHOP.
      • Your gift must be transferred directly from your IRA to CHOP.

      • Your transfer must be executed by December 31 to receive tax benefits this year.
    • Next steps:
      • Contact your IRA administrator to request a qualified charitable distribution to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Foundation for a specific amount or use your IRA checkbook to make a distribution directly from your account to CHOP. Include our Tax ID number: Tax ID #23-2237932.
      • Checks should be delivered to the following address: CHOP Foundation, PO Box 781352, Philadelphia, PA 19178-1352
    • Because your IRA custodian may not include your name on your QCD, please contact us to share the name of the custodian, the amount of the transfer and any special designation. This helps us fulfill your intent for your gift and provide the correct IRS acknowledgment.
  • Real estate: Including your home, vacation property, farmland or commercial property. If you own appreciated real property, you can avoid paying capital gains tax by making a gift to CHOP.
