At Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), we know children are not just small adults and that infants and children have different needs when it comes to anesthesia. Our Division of General Anesthesiology includes a large team of experts – nearly 100 strong – that have advanced training to keep your child safe and comfortable before, during and after any anesthetic procedure – from routine tests to the most complex surgeries.

Our board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists treat children at our Main Hospital in Philadelphia and at our Specialty Care and Ambulatory Surgery locations throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Our team oversees more than 33,000 patient procedures each year. We have a steadfast commitment to provide the highest quality of care to all our patients.

How we serve you

We know medical care can be scary for children and parents. One of our primary goals is to prevent pain and anxiety during procedures. We accomplish this by using anesthetic medications, special medication dosage and effects knowledge, and an understanding of the full range of pediatric diseases and conditions.
