The Cardiac Center was well-represented at the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society (PCICS) annual conference, which was held November 20 - 22, 2019 in London, England. The meeting was held as part of a multinational gathering, the Joint Paediatric Critical Care International Meeting, which included the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society, the UK Paediatric Intensive Care Society and the European Conference on Paediatric and Neonatal Cardiac Intensive Care. Conference attendees represented over 1,000 physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and pharmacists from North and South America, the United Kingdom, Eastern and Western Europe, the Middle East, South Asia and East Asia.
The 22 faculty, staff and trainees that comprised the CHOP Cardiac Center delegation were very active as leaders at the gathering. They included PCICS Board of Directors members Venkat Shankar, MBBS, MBA and Jenna Heichel, MSN, BSN, CRNP, APP; the Membership Committee Chair, Therese Giglia, MD; the Committee on Quality Improvement members Aaron Dewitt, MD and Marissa Brunetti, MD; the APP SIG, Jenna Heichel, MSN, BSN, CRNP, APP; and the Nursing Administration SIG, Sherri Kubis, RN, MSN.
CHOP team members were the authors of 11 presentations. Amy Lisanti, PhD, APN whose project, entitled "Skin to Skin Holding in Infants Before and After Neonatal Cardiac Surgery: A Pilot Study," received the award for the most outstanding platform presentation.
