The 2024 Woody Starkweather Intensive Stuttering Program at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Center for Childhood Communication is a four-day workshop for teenagers who stutter. The workshop will be held on June 17, 18, 20, 21. Developed by Joseph Donaher, PhD, CCC-SLP, a speech-language pathologist and the Research Program Director with the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and the Center for Childhood Communication, the program’s goal is to foster a better understand of stuttering and communication.
Teens who participate in the program will explore together ways to lessen the negative impact of stuttering on their lives. Discussion topics will include avoidance, disclosure and stigma. Guest speakers will include adults who stutter. Through shared stories, teens will learn with and from each other. Families and friends are invited to attend with their teenager on Friday, June 21, 2024. Lunch will be provided daily.
