About Heidi Herrick, MD

Dr. Herrick is neonatologist and a clinical research scientist at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her research agenda involves the application of Human Factors to neonatal resuscitation and tracheal intubation. She is currently supported by a career development grant from the Agency of Healthcare Research and Quality to develop a Human Factors approach to evaluate quality of care in the delivery room. The overall goals of her research are to integrate Human Factors tools methodology, and approaches into neonatal resuscitation and intubation to improve patient safety and outcomes and optimize human performance.

Dr. Herrick the serves as the Director of Neonatal Audio and Visual Recording at both CHOP and HUP as well as the principal investigator for Video Evaluation of Infant Resuscitation International (VERIFI). Dr. Herrick routinely uses video review of neonatal resuscitation and intubation to support clinical research, quality improvement, and education initiatives.
