Why Choose the Philadelphia Adult Congenital Heart Center
The Philadelphia Adult Congenital Heart Center is a joint program between two top-ranked institutions — Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and Penn Medicine. We are the only adult congenital heart center in the region. Each year, we see more patients than any other program in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or Delaware. With more than 1,500 outpatient visits each year, we continue to grow.
Our expertise
We are dedicated to caring for adults with congenital heart disease. Our mission is to deliver state-of-the-art treatment to make sure adults patients like you thrive and live to your fullest potential.
Our team is made up of doctors who are trained in adult congenital heart disease. Currently, there are less than 100 cardiologists like these in the country.
Our cardiac surgeons have training and experience in treating both pediatric and adult congenital heart disease. Our nurse practitioners have extensive experience in the specialized care of adults with congenital heart disease.
We recognize that no two people with congenital heart disease are alike, so we personalize care for each patient we treat. When choosing the best adult congenital heart disease center for your care, look no further than our nationally ranked academic medical centers.

We collaborate to offer innovative treatments and techniques, including:
- Transcatheter options for pulmonary valve replacement
- Covered stenting for aortic coarctation
- Lymphatic procedures for patients with single ventricle physiology

Heart failure and cardiac transplantation
We partner with the Heart Transplantation Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) to care for adults with heart failure who may need advanced therapies, including cardiac transplantation.
Family planning and pregnancy
We have specialized knowledge and training in caring for patients with congenital heart disease who want to start a family. Whether you are interested in adoption, surrogacy or pregnancy, we’re here to support you in making informed choices.
We also care for pregnant patients in partnership with the high-risk maternal-fetal medicine team at HUP. Together, we’ve cared for hundreds of women — throughout pregnancy, labor and delivery — who have successfully started their own families.
Comprehensive care center accreditation
The Philadelphia Adult Congenital Heart Center (PACHC) was recently awarded accreditation status as a comprehensive care center by the Adult Congenital Heart Association. The PACHC is a joint program run by CHOP and the Penn Medicine Health System.
