2024 Winner is Kathleen E. Sullivan, MD, PhD

Dr. Sullivan is Chief of the Division of Allergy and Immunology and Director of the Undiagnosed Disease Program at CHOP, and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Pennsylvania’s Perelman School of Medicine. She participates in the Very Early Onset Inflammatory Bowel Disease (VEO-IBD) Program and 22Q and You Program at CHOP. She holds the Frank R. Wallace Endowed Chair in Infectious Disease. 

She has previously served as President of the Clinical Immunology Society and on the Basic and Clinical Immunology Committee to the AAAAI, as well as the AAAAI Board. She chairs the United States Immunodeficiency Network (USIDNET) and is a past chair of the IUIS Inborn Errors of Immunity Committee. Additionally, she co-edits E. Richard Steihm, MD’s textbook on Immune Deficiencies.

Her basic science research interests include understanding inflammation and the mechanism of regulating gene expression in inflammatory diseases. Her clinical interests include the study of patients with DiGeorge syndrome/chromosome 22q11.2 deletion syndrome, variables related to outcomes of patients with primary immunodeficiencies, and developing diagnostic methods using advanced technologies.

Dr. Sullivan trained at the University of California San Francisco for her M.D., residency, and PhD in Biochemistry and Immunology. She completed her fellowship in Immunology and Rheumatology at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Sullivan has been at CHOP since 1993.
