2024 Winner is Soroosh Mahboubi, MD
Dr. Mahboubi joined CHOP in 1973 as a member of the Department of Radiology’s inaugural fellowship class and has served the CHOP community for over 50 years. He is a Senior Attending Radiologist with the Department of Radiology at CHOP and Emeritus Professor CE of Radiology in the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania.
Throughout his tenure in the Department of Radiology, Dr. Mahboubi has served as Acting Director, Deputy Radiologist-in-Chief, Director of Education and Residency, inaugural Director of the Section of Body Computer Tomography (CT) and inaugural Associate Trauma Director in Radiology. He has been the author of over 100 publications, co-edited two textbooks and is the sole author of a third. He has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator for three NIH grants. He is a Fellow of the American College of Radiology and the College of Physicians in Philadelphia.
In 2009, Dr. Mahboubi established the Soroosh Mahboubi International Fund for Higher Education, an ongoing fellowship program which enables pediatric radiologists from around the world to visit CHOP for short-term training. In 2018, the Soroosh Mahboubi Endowed Chair for Pediatric Body Imaging was established in his honor.
He received his M.D. from the University of Tehran Medical School in Tehran, Iran in 1966, and in 1968 came to the United States for an internship at Carney Hospital in Boston. He went on to complete his fellowship in pediatric radiology at CHOP. He completed an additional fellowship in angiography and neuroradiology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, where he also completed his residency in diagnostic radiology.
