"Measles Training Plan for Healthcare and Public Health Professionals"
This measles-specific training plan, developed by the Public Health Foundation and provided through the TRAIN Learning Network, includes multiple courses. For example, users can learn about general measles education, outbreak responses, and addressing vaccine hesitancy and misinformation. Providers can earn credits for each course, with over 15 hours of training available across the series of courses.

State of the ImmUnion
Each year, Vaccinate Your Family (VYF) publishes a report that details current immunization policy and outlines actions that policymakers and individuals should take to prevent disease outbreaks. The 2025 report outlines current threats from vaccine-preventable diseases, including challenges with access to vaccines, public health costs, the crisis of misinformation, the resurgence of measles and the severe influenza (flu) season we’ve experienced. The report also outlines five actions that policymakers should take to combat these threats:
- Expand vaccinators and vaccination locations
- Facilitate increased access to vaccines
- Increase public health funding
- Modernize the Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP)
- Raise awareness of the critical importance of lifesaving vaccines
Newsletters and Substacks we’re following
Trying to keep up to date on vaccines, vaccine-preventable diseases, and other public health issues? The VEC continues to publish a monthly Vaccine Update newsletter for healthcare providers and our monthly Parents PACK newsletter for the public (which providers can copy and paste from for their own newsletters and websites with source citation).
In between preparing these publications and other resources, we keep up to date by following various Substacks and news briefings. Try out a few of our favorites (and share your favorites with us!).
- Your Local Epidemiologist: Dr. Katelyn Jetelina and team share public health science twice a week.
- Unbiased Science Substack: More than just infectious diseases, this team provides trustworthy, independent science communication through newsletters, a podcast and social media.
- Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP): CIDRAP offers a daily newsletter covering the latest infectious diseases headlines.
- Pandemic Center Tracking Report: A weekly report of both domestic and international disease outbreaks to keep readers informed about potential and ongoing health threats.
- ImmunoLogic: Dr. Andrea Love is a microbiologist and immunologist who writes about “the facts, the fiction, and the fraud behind science and health topics.”
- Miss Trust: A publication of the Society for Intelligence Management (SIM) that explores “health and social issues through a critical thinking lens.”
And don’t forget about, Dr. Offit’s Substack, Beyond the Noise, which also offers related video discussions on each post. The videos are hosted on MicrobeTV with Dr. Vincent Racaniello.
Continuing education: "Health and Economic Benefits of Routine Childhood Immunizations"
The Vaccines for Children (VFC) Program has prevented more than 30 million hospitalizations and saved society $2.7 trillion. Over 25 years of success has been celebrated in many forums (including in our November 2024 Technically Speaking article). Now, a continuing education program is available to learn more about the health and economic benefits of the program.
