Treating a Gastrointestinal Bleed
There are multiple endoscopic techniques used to treat gastrointestinal bleeding in children, including:
- Injection of a bleeding lesion
- Cautery and argon plasma coagulation (heat application)
- Hemostatic clips
- Banding
Your child’s doctor will determine which technique is used based on the type and location of your child’s lesion. In some cases, more than one technique is used.
Treatment for a GI bleed can be completed at the same time as your child’s endoscopy or colonoscopy procedure.
This intervention is only available at CHOP’s Main Campus.
