Resting Energy Expenditure
Resting energy expenditure (REE) measures the amount calories required by your child’s body during resting conditions.
For this test, your child must be able to lie still for about one hour. Your child can watch a video during the test. In some cases, sedation may be required to help your child lie still.
To measure your child's energy expenditure, we will place a clear plastic hood over her head so we can take measurements of the air as she breathes normally.
This test is only available at CHOP’s Main Campus.
