Medical Financial Partnership
At Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), we aim to provide care in a comprehensive way. That means not only providing healthcare for your family, but also supporting financial health. CHOP has partnered with several community organizations to offer high-quality services to help families build financial stability — and thereby improve their health. Services are available through virtual consultations and at the Nicholas and Athena Karabots Pediatric Care Center.
Tax Preparation
It’s important for families to claim all the tax deductions and credits for which they are eligible.
- Campaign for Working Families (CWF) offers IRS-certified, free basic income tax return preparation.
- You may be eligible for over $7,000 in refund dollars! In 2024, our clients received an average refund of $1,957!

Public Benefits Navigation
CHOP offers free 1-on-1 support to ensure CHOP families receive all their public benefits. Appointments take 20-30 minutes to see if families qualify for some of the most impactful public benefits.
- Benefits include food assistance, renters’ or homeowners’ assistance, utilities support, and childcare subsidies.
- In 2024 alone, MFP resource navigators identified over $2.2 million in unclaimed benefits!
- Our resource navigators are trained to help you with benefits applications and answer your questions throughout the sign-up process.
Teen Financial Empowerment
A strong financial foundation means a strong financial future. Early intervention to increase financial literacy can help change the trajectory of a young person’s financial potential, which is intricately linked to their potential to achieve their best health over the course of their life. That’s why we offer free financial services not just for caregivers, but for adolescent patients as well.
- Teen education sessions are offered in one-on-one and group-based settings and focus on critical concepts such as credit, loans, interest, debt, and investing.
- Teens who work will often receive a refund if they file taxes! We're here to help. Our tax preparers are ready to help ensure hard-working teens get every dollar owed to them.
Teens or guardians interested in learning more about our adolescent financial education services can submit an interest form HERE.
