2023 Immunization schedules released
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released the 2023 immunization schedules. While the COVID-19 vaccine has been added for the first time this year, the addition does not mean that COVID-19 vaccines are being mandated — contrary to the misinformation that has been circulating. The COVID-19 vaccine was added to the schedule because it is a routinely recommended vaccine. Recommendations, on which the schedule is based, are made at the federal level. These differ from requirements, which determine vaccines that are mandated in a given situation or setting. They are made at the state level.
