The Center for Leadership and Innovation in Medical Education (CLIME) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is based on the academy of medical educators model and is designed to foster medical education scholarship, support educators in their teaching efforts, and promote community amongst educators. The vision of CLIME is working together to translate excellence in education into improved health outcomes.

Education Collaboratory
The CHOP Education Collaboratory supports research skill development and encourages collaboration among faculty, trainees and staff who are interested in, or pursuing, innovation and scholarship related to education.
Faculty & Scholarship Spotlight
The Collaboratory provides weekly works-in-progress sessions where presenters can brainstorm ideas, refine their projects, and receive feedback on their work from other educators and scholars.
Collaboratory sessions are open to anyone interested in education - those who want to present and get advice, as well as those who just want to learn by considering the work of others.

Coaching
The CLIME Coaching Program is designed to provide teaching observations and peer feedback to CHOP physicians who are interested in improving their teaching. Feedback can be provided on clinical, small group, or large group teaching and will be based on individual teaching needs.

For educators looking for resources and opportunities to mentor, CLIME collects a library of helpful resources. To start, we recommend visiting the Mentoring Center at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).

Med Ed Journals
CLIME Grant Funding
CLIME introduced two new funding streams for medical educators in FY21.
The Education Scholarship Pilot Grant funds teams up to $5,000 for the launch of educational innovations and scholarly projects. These grants also provide a year of project support to ensure the success of funded work.
The Educator Development Grant funds individuals up to $2,000 to purchase items that will enhance their professional development as educators. These grants can be used to fund attendance at meetings/conferences to support career development or can be used to purchase equipment, software or other materials needed to advance education-related innovations or scholarly projects.
