Express Care
In addition to our standard sick visits, CHOP Primary Care offers Express Care appointments Monday through Friday. These are same-day appointments that last 15 minutes for sick kids ages 6 months and older with the specific symptoms listed below. The goal of Express Care is to provide patients with easy access for known or low-acuity concerns at all Primary Care offices during regular business hours. Express Care appointment availability is limited and is scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Once all slots are full, families will be directed to the nurse triage line to schedule a regular sick visit.
Express Care is for patients presenting with one of the following symptoms:
- Sore throat without difficulty breathing for more than 24 hours
- Ear pain
- Difficulty urinating (children ages 4 years and up)
- Cough without wheezing, difficulty breathing or a known asthma diagnosis
- Congestion without chest or breathing issues
- Poison ivy on the face, eyes, lips or genitals
- Fever for more than 24 hours
- Red/swollen/infected fingers, toes or ingrown nails
If your child is sick and is experiencing any of the symptoms listed above, call your CHOP Primary Care office. When you select the sick visit telephone prompt, you will speak with a Patient Service Representative, who will review the Express Care scheduling criteria and schedule the next available appointment.
For all other concerns, please call your CHOP Primary Care practice and speak to the triage nurse for an appointment.
