Online Remote Medical Consultation Program

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia offers a variety of remote second opinion and consultation options for patient families.

 

Remote medical record reviews (online consultations) may be available to patients who live in certain states.  This option might allow CHOP pediatric specialists to review a patient's medical records virtually in advance - or in place of - a potential hospital visit and provide a written report to you and the patient’s treating physician. The record review evaluation is provided in writing and is not performed via a phone call or virtual meeting.

We currently offer online review of patient records in the following clinical areas:

  • Endocrinology
  • Gastroenterology (including VEO/IBD, pancreatic disorders, Celiac disease)
  • General Surgery
  • Infectious Disease
  • Nephrology (including kidney transplant)
  • Neurology
  • Neurosurgery
  • Oncology (including relapsed/refractory neuroblastoma, bone tumor, Leukemia, brain tumor)
  • Orthopedics (including sports medicine, spine, fractures/injuries)
  • Ophthalmology
  • Otolaryngology (ENT)
  • Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery
  • Pulmonology
  • Rheumatology
  • Urology (including hypospadias, kidney stones and many other conditions)

Some programs offered may involve a fee. You may not be eligible for an online review based on the state you live in or the patient’s condition. The Remote Online Consultation Program is NOT available to patients living within CHOP’s primary service area, which includes:  

  • Pennsylvania: Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Lancaster, Lehigh, Montgomery, Northampton and Philadelphia counties

  • New Jersey: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem and Somerset counties

  • Delaware: New Castle county

Celiac Disease Second Opinion: Jack's Story
