The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) provides comprehensive care for infants, children and adolescents who become critically ill or injured. Our skilled team of medical professionals quickly assess and treat your child so they can achieve the best possible outcomes after critical illness or injury.

Equipped with advanced technology and state-of-the-art tools, our team supports patients, improves survival, speeds recovery, minimizes disability, and relieves pain and suffering in a caring and respectful manner. We treat patients who have experienced trauma, severe infection, poisoning, drug overdose, birth defects, immunological disorders and extensive surgery.

If a referral to the PICU is appropriate for your child, the critical care staff will make arrangements to transport your child to the PICU.
