Karl F. Godlewski, MD, joined our attending team this year following his completion of a two-year fellowship within the Division of Urology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
During his research year of fellowship, Dr. Godlewski had primary research interests in hypospadias and bladder exstrophy, both of which he is continuing to investigate as he advances his career as an attending urologist. Dr. Godlewski’s expertise in these two areas has generated extensive research projects involving machine learning hypospadias, reoperative hypospadias, penile chordee, complete primary repair of exstrophy, and the creation of an informational pathway for bladder exstrophy patients. Along with these areas of interest, Dr. Godlewski has extensive experience in all areas of pediatric urology, including robotics—both typical and complex.
Having been mentored by the late Dr. Douglas Canning, the former chief of the Division of Urology, Dr. Godlewski exhibits a deep commitment to the patients in front of him every day, echoing the lessons imparted to him and many others by Dr. Canning: “Start with the child, and go from there.” Throughout all of his interactions, Dr. Godlewski strives to make patients feel heard in their complaints. He listens first, and brings an intense desire to care for the person in front of him.
Dr. Godlewski currently sees patients with all urologic conditions at our main campus in Philadelphia, and he will begin seeing patients at our satellite locations in King of Prussia and Princeton, New Jersey, in January 2024.
Dr. Godlewski lives in Ardmore, Pa., with his wife and their one-year-old daughter.
