Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, rates of mental and behavioral health issues have grown and caused strain on an already fragile healthcare system. Now, President Biden has vowed to take action, specifically calling out the need to help children with mental illness.
“This is the first time that I've ever seen this level of interest and investment on a national level in mental health, specifically children's mental health.” said Tami D. Benton, MD, Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Executive Director and Chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.
Dr. Benton spoke with NPR about the new healthcare plan.
