Two clinicians from CHOP’s Center for Celiac Disease presented “A Holistic Approach to Pediatric Celiac Disease Management,” at a recent virtual Town Hall event hosted by Beyond Celiac, a nonprofit dedicated to raising awareness of celiac disease. A recording of the event is now available online for families to watch.
Speakers included Center Co-director Lisa Fahey, MD, and Psychologist Elizabeth “Betsy” Turner, PhD, MS. The pair led a wide-ranging discussion that included:
- The differences between celiac disease, wheat allergies and non-celiac gluten sensitivities
- How best to diagnose and treat celiac and related conditions in children
- Introducing gluten to babies at risk of developing celiac disease or gluten sensitivities
- When to transition your child’s care to an adult provider and more
