CHOP Sleep Lab Opens in Newtown Square
October 29, 2024

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) today announced the opening of a 5,077 square foot new Sleep Lab at its new Specialty Care Center in Newtown Square, PA, on the second floor of Main Line Health's Newtown Square Medical Building. Located at 3855 West Chester Pike, Suite 215, the Sleep Lab will perform various outpatient polysomnography studies, including overnight sleep studies and multiple sleep latency tests.

“We are thrilled to be expanding our best-in-class pediatric sleep services to our patients and their families, said Dr. Christopher Cielo, Director of CHOP’s Sleep Center and an attending pulmonologist in the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at CHOP. “Our newest Sleep Lab will provide convenient access to CHOP’s unparalleled care and resources for families living in Delaware County and the surrounding areas.”

The Sleep Lab can accommodate six patients/studies per night, seven days a week, and is staffed by licensed technologists and physicians at CHOP. The lab is equipped with the same state-of-the-art polysomnography equipment used at CHOP’s other three Sleep Lab locations, and all studies are read by board certified pediatric sleep physicians.

Sleep studies help diagnose and treat breathing disorders during sleep, as well as sleep-related movement disorders and other sleep problems. The Sleep Center at CHOP evaluates and manages the full spectrum of sleep disorders in children, including obstructive and central sleep apnea, difficulty falling and staying asleep, daytime sleepiness, and other sleep problems.
