Tami D. Benton, MD, Psychiatrist-in-Chief, Executive Director and Chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, was recently elected President of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). Dr. Benton has dedicated her career to helping children in their mental health struggles, especially those in underserved communities. She was nominated for this prestigious position by other experts in the mental health field and will take on this new leadership role this October.
“I am honored to be recognized by my peers and elected President of the AACAP,” said Dr. Benton. “I look forward to working with my colleagues across the country as we strive to address the growing mental health issues our children are facing and provide more access and better resources for families in need.”
AACAP was founded in 1962 to promote the healthy development of children, adolescents, and families through advocacy, education, and research, and to meet the professional needs of child and adolescent psychiatrists throughout their careers.
