Sharon Y. Irving, PhD, MSN, CRNP, was awarded the Distinguished Nutrition Support Nurse Service Award from the American Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (A.S.P.E.N.). The award is given to a nurse who showcases exceptional expertise in clinical practice, education and patient advocacy.
Recently, Dr. Irving was the lead author on best practice recommendations for verification of feeding tube placements in pediatric patients and co-authored new guidelines for nutrition therapy in critically ill children. Both guidelines are endorsed by A.S.P.E.N.’s Board of Directors.
