At the first-ever scientific workshop on chronic kidney disease (CKD) in children, hosted by the National Kidney Foundation in Atlanta, GA, dozens of professionals in pediatric nephrology, patients and parents gathered to use recent children-focused research, patients experience, and new ideas from the meeting participants to make recommendations that will improve the care for kids living with kidney disease. The conference was co-chaired by Susan Furth, MD, PhD, Chief of the Division of Nephrology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP),
“This conference is designed to bring together what we know, what we can do with what we know, and what we need to know regarding the unique challenges of caring for children with CKD,” says Dr. Furth, who was one of the conference co-chairs.
