Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) announced today that it has earned the 2023 Military Friendly® Employer designation for its role in fostering a meaningful work environment for veterans, service members, and their families. This is the third year in a row that CHOP has received this designation, and this year CHOP also ranked in the top 10 in the NonProfit/Government category. This designation will be featured in the December 2022 issue of G.I. Jobs® magazine.
“Being recognized as a military-friendly institution is an incredible honor,” said Glen Tobin, MPH, LSSGB, Practice Manager in the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at CHOP and Community Outreach Officer for CHOP’s U.S. Military Employee Resource Group. “It is an even greater honor to work alongside some of our nation’s active duty, reservist, and veteran communities, who contribute so much to our institution.”
The U.S. Military Employee Resource Group at CHOP focuses on developing the careers of veteran and active-duty employees and supporting military patient families and employees, as well as engaging in community philanthropy. The group is open to all CHOP employees, regardless of veteran status or current active-duty status, as well as employees with family members who are active duty, guard, reserve, or veterans.
“At CHOP, we strive to foster a rewarding work environment and experience for all of our staff, and we are proud that we have been recognized once again for creating such an environment for our military employees,” said Calvin U. Allen, MBA, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “We are grateful for their service and for their ongoing dedication to improving children’s health.”
CHOP was awarded the Military Friendly® Employer designation for its ability to meet thresholds for the institution’s ability to attract, retain promote and advance veterans and military employees. Institutions earning the Military Friendly® Employer designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than one thousand companies participated in the 2023 Military Friendly® survey.
Military Friendly® is the standard that measures an organization’s commitment, effort, and success in creating sustainable and meaningful benefits for the military community. Over 1,700 organizations compete annually for Military Friendly® designation.
