On Thursday, May 17, 2018, team members from Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), along with two patient families and other guests, celebrated the 10-year anniversary of the Garbose Family Special Delivery Unit (SDU). The ceremony featured speeches from staff and families who have personal ties to the SDU.
The SDU was the world’s first comprehensive medical unit for healthy mothers carrying babies with known birth defects. Within the SDU, all babies either undergo fetal surgery to treat a condition before birth or require specialized care immediately after birth.
