

Cardiology 2025, the 28th Annual Update on Pediatric and Congenital Cardiovascular Disease, was held this year from February 19 to 23 at Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Report in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The conference, hosted by Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), brought together a dynamic and diverse community of pediatric and congenital cardiovascular professionals and advocates, all united by this year’s theme: Hope, Heal and Learn. This year’s discussions reinforced the urgency of collaboration, innovation and resilience at the world’s largest gathering of congenital heart disease specialists.
Overall, the conference underscored the urgent need for solutions in emerging growth areas of pediatric cardiology, including increased patient complexity and personalized care. Sessions elevated how multicenter initiatives and evidence-based practices continue to drive advancements in quality and outcomes.
Innovation, technology and mental wellness also took centerstage at the conference, which highlighted catheter-based interventions, surgical techniques and pediatric heart medications that are improving survival and long-term health for congenital and acquired heart disease patients. A key discussion emphasized the importance of self-care for professionals and holistic, family-center patient support.
At this year’s conference, more than 250 abstracts were submitted from centers around the world and presented during multiple poster and oral abstract sessions. Additionally, Chitra Ravishankar, MD, an attending physician at CHOP’s Cardiac Center, was honored with the 2025 Cardiac Center Tribute Award in recognition of her numerous important contributions to the CHOP Cardiac Center, her colleagues, and her patients.
