Clinical rotation days and learning objectives

• Days 1 and 2: Orientation/Safety
• Days 3-5: Specimen Processing/Rapid Tests/Gram stains
• Days 6-13: Blood Bench/Urine-Stool Bench/Wounds Bench/Respiratory Bench
• Days 14-16: Molecular: Pre-Amp/Post-Amp/Reagent Prep for LDTs/Quality
• Days 17-19: Microbiology Specialty Areas/Micro Practical
• Day 20: Complete Practical/Review Grading/Student Presentation

*These are general goals. Plans can change depending on staffing and if one area has a particular unusual situation. For example: If an instrument problem occurs on any given day, the student might switch to another bench to observe trouble shooting, etc.
