Early Intervention Agency - New Jersey

New Jersey Early Intervention System (NJEIS): Overseen by the Division of Family Health Services. Serves children ages 0-3 years.

Who to call for help?

  • Call the Regional System Point of Entry at 1-888-653-4463 and follow the menu directions based on the county in which the child lives.
  • There is a family cost share for direct early intervention services based on a sliding fee scale for families at or above 350 percent of the Federal Poverty Level.
  • Some 0-3 services CANNOT be subject to a family cost share, including: child find/referral; evaluation/assessment; service coordination; IFSP development and review; and procedural safeguards.

When a child turns 3, the NJ Department of Education is responsible for meeting the special education needs of the child. These services are delivered under the direction of the local school district. Services may continue until high school graduation or age 21, whichever occurs first.
