Welfare benefits
Day 1 coverage for residents and fellows
- Basic Life Insurance- 1X your base annual salary, no less than $50K to a maximum of $750K and CHOP pays the full cost of this coverage. Options for supplemental life insurance and spouse/dependent life insurance coverage available to you through payroll deductions.
- Short-Term Disability- 100% CHOP funded. If you are medically disabled, you will receive 100% of pay for up to 26 weeks.
- Long-Term Disability- 100% CHOP funded. Provides for 60% of base salary up to $15K per month. Buy-up option available to you through payroll deductions.
- Paid Parental Leave- Eligible on date of hire and provides for 4 weeks of pay at 100% of base salary.
Retirement benefits
- Two Types of plans that work together as part of your overall retirement savings program
- 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan- You may contribute to this account through pre-tax payroll deductions. CHOP matches $0.50 for each $1.00 contributed, up to 6% after one year of service.
- 401(a) CHOP-Funded Retirement Savings Plan- Eligible for 4% CHOP contribution each year after completing one year of service and have worked a minimum of 750 hours.

- We offer robust health and wellness services that will help you identify opportunities for improvement, change unhealthy behaviors, or manage chronic conditions.
- Commuter Benefit- Allows you to use pre-tax payroll deductions to put towards your public transportation commuting costs. CHOP will subsidize 75% of your commuting cost up to $150 per month.
- Bicycle Commuter Benefit- Receive up to $240 per calendar year for qualifying out of pocket expenses when you commute to work via bicycle.
- Parking- Residents and Fellows receive discounted parking at $25 per pay period.
Educational benefits
- Student Loan Repayment- CHOP will contribute up to $2400/year to help pay down your student loan debt.
- Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program- PeopleJoy’s interactive tool helps you navigate the process of applying for loan forgiveness, debt cancellation, and more.
- SoFi Student Loan Refinancing and More- SoFi offers options like refinancing, private student loans, and a debt navigator tool to help keep your finances on track while you continue your education or pay off existing loans.
