Finding Our Voices: Humanities In Medicine

Finding Our Voices: Humanities In Medicine

Healthcare professionals face stress and challenges in their daily work and often lack the space and time to voice their experiences, connect with colleagues and self to find meaning in their work. This activity aims to provide an opportunity to all those who deliver healthcare to learn and practice narrative skills through writing, reflection, art observation and improvisation. It will help participants build empathy, self-awareness and connection with colleagues thereby affecting delivery of humanistic healthcare. Keynote address will focus on the challenges of uncertainty in healthcare. Break- out sessions will focus on participation with writing, advocacy, visual thinking strategies through art and observation, medical improv and program development in the humanities and podcasts as communication tools for sharing knowledge and stories.
