Ali Nabavizadeh, MD
About Ali Nabavizadeh, MD
Dr. Ali Nabavizadeh is the D³b Director of Imaging responsible for developing and overseeing an imaging program ranging from monitoring the pediatric brain tumor microenvironment using MRI and PET molecular imaging techniques, to large-scale imaging genomic bioinformatic analysis on multidimensional data.
Ali’s research focuses on multimodality imaging using structural and physiologic MRI imaging with additional PET probes and molecular imaging techniques to better understand the complex nature of brain tumor microenvironment. The ultimate goal of his research is to use imaging and liquid biopsy biomarkers in prognostication, tumor response evaluation, and differentiation of tumor progression from treatment effect.
Ali joined D³b in 2020 and is also currently an Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is committed to facilitating collaboration and accelerating the implementation of advanced MRI and molecular imaging in pediatric brain tumors.
Ali earned his medical degree and completed a residency program in Radiology at Shiraz University School of Medicine. He next completed a Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia which was followed by 2-year adult fellowships in neuroradiology and nuclear radiology at the University of Pennsylvania.

Research Interests
Dr. Nabavizadeh is currently the principal investigator of multiple imaging clinical trials in patients with brain tumors. His research efforts involve multimodality imaging using structural and physiologic MRI imaging with additional PET probes and molecular imaging techniques to better understand the complex nature of brain tumor microenvironment. The ultimate goal of his research is to use imaging and liquid biopsy biomarkers in prognostication, tumor response evaluation, differentiation of tumor progression from treatment-effect.
