The Division of Nephrology at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia offers customizable clinical rotations for clinical medical students and residents.

Clinical experiences

  • Hospital inpatient & consult service: Join an attending & fellow in the hospital caring for patients admitted under the nephrology service or providing consults to patients admitted under other services. Select 1 - 2 patients to follow, which involves pre-rounding, presenting the patient to the attending/fellow, and following up on labs.
  • General nephrology outpatient clinic: Join an attending in outpatient continuity clinic, seeing new and follow-up patients.

Other learning experiences

  • Observe in our specialty or multi-disciplinary outpatient clinics. These include peritoneal dialysis clinic, transplant clinic, lupus integrated nephritis (LINC) clinic, cancer survivorship clinic, stones clinic, and more.
  • Attend our didactic and patient review conferences. These include fellows’ core teaching (Mondays), inpatient rounds (Tuesdays), outpatient rounds (Thursdays), and Renal Grand Rounds (Fridays).
  • With support from our educational director, do a brief presentation on a topic of your choosing during the last outpatient rounds of your rotation (rotators on a 4-week rotation only).
