The Young Child Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) understands that birth through age five years is a unique and special time in your child’s development. Children’s brains grow rapidly, and the relationships they form with their caregivers are critical for their early development and learning, social skills and emotional adjustment. Sometimes children have behaviors or emotional responses that can:

  • Get in the way of their developmental goals
  • Interfere with their participation at school
  • Make parenting feel more stressful

We are here to support your family in understanding the challenges your child is having and what you can do to help. Reaching out early is an important step in setting your family up for future success.

How we serve you

After we evaluate your child, we will share personalized recommendations to help support your family including:

  • Strategies you can try at home
  • Guidance to help your child get the support they need at school
  • Behavioral health intervention here at CHOP, or another provider near you
  • Referral for developmental supports
  • Connection to community resources
  • Medication evaluation

Conditions we evaluate and treat

We can evaluate and treat your child if they experience challenges in one or more of these areas:
