The Trisomy 21 Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) evaluates, treats and provides coordinated care for children and adults with trisomy 21 – also known as Down syndrome. Individuals can enter the program at birth or at any point throughout their lives.

Our program supports individuals with Down syndrome, their families and healthcare teams by providing education, healthcare collaboration and a comprehensive review of the developmental, behavioral, educational, psychosocial and medical issues common in individuals with Down syndrome. Whether your family has received a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome or your child was diagnosed after birth, we can help you navigate any health challenges your child faces, answer your questions and offer coordinated care to meet your child’s unique needs.

How we serve you

We offer a variety of specialized programs and clinical services to best support individuals with Down syndrome and their families.

Patient stories

Our Stories
A year into the COVID-19 pandemic, Bryant’s family received a wake-up call from the staff at the Trisomy 21 Program. Instead of steadily improving since his last visit, Bryant’s behavior had become troublesome, he’d gained a significant amount of weight and his blood work was concerning.

Preparing for your child’s appointment

When you come to the Trisomy 21 Clinic, we'll review your child’s medical, developmental and behavioral history any testing performed, and conduct a physical exam. Then, we’ll make recommendations for next steps in your child’s care.
