Your Child's Rare Lung Diseases Center Appointment
Our offices are located on the 7th floor of the Buerger Center for Advanced Pediatric Care at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. A parking garage is located beneath the building. Additional maps and directions are available on the Patient and Visitor Information section.
Your child's appointment begins at the registration desk.
Upon arriving at our office, you will be greeted by a registrar, who will verify your demographic and insurance information. If your child is old enough, they may undergo pulmonary function testing. Your child may be seen by one of the pulmonary fellows or advanced practice nurses working in conjunction with an attending pulmonologist. Other members of our team include nurses, respiratory and physical therapists, a nutritionist, a genetic counselor, a social worker, and research coordinators, though not all team members participate in each visit. Let us know in advance if you have questions.
After your visit, your primary doctor will receive a letter summarizing the visit and recommendations.
Please bring with you any additional information about your child, such as recent lab test results and copies of any recent chest X-rays. Also bring with you any medicines, inhalers, spacers or peak flow meters that have been prescribed for your child.
Insurance and payment
If your child's insurance requires you to have a referral, please obtain one in advance of your child's scheduled visit. This referral should include the visit as well as lung function testing. If you are not sure if a referral is needed, please check with your child's primary care doctor or with your insurer. We cannot accept referrals by mail or fax.
