If your child's asthma is difficult to control, the Pulmonary and Allergy Personalized Asthma (PAPA) Clinic at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) can help. By having your child evaluated by both a pulmonologist and allergist at the same time, we can uncover hidden triggers of asthma flares and improve asthma management.

The two pediatric specialists work closely with your family to develop a customized care plan to improve your child’s difficult asthma. Our goal is to turn tough-to-treat asthma into manageable asthma in three visits.

Our PAPA Clinic's unique approach includes emotional, behavioral and practical support, in addition to medical specialists, to address all aspects of your child’s asthma care. We assess each family's particular needs and provide connections to community-based support as needed.

How we serve you

Managing your child's severe asthma can be difficult and confusing. The PAPA Clinic pairs medical care with emotional, behavioral and community-based support so PAPA patients and families receive all the resources needed to carry out their treatment plan and improve their child's health.

Conditions we treat

If your child has had to go to the emergency room or has been hospitalized recently due to severe asthma, PAPA may be right for you. We also treat children who have needed oral steroids frequently.
