Why Choose CHOP's Pediatric Colorectal Program

Why Choose CHOP's Pediatric Colorectal Program

If your child has a colorectal condition, you want a team that can support all their healthcare needs, from surgery to long-term bowel management. The Pediatric Colorectal Program at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is here to help.

Our goal is to provide a successful bowel management program so that your child may lead a normal, healthy life. We treat more than 300 patients annually in our multidisciplinary clinic. This level of experience makes us well-equipped to manage every aspect of your child’s care.

We bring together top pediatric specialists in colorectal surgery and gastroenterology who collaborate to provide comprehensive care in one location. We offer both medical and surgical therapies for the management of these disorders.

Children who undergo surgery often still need help with bowel management as they grow and develop. We will work with you to meet your child's needs. Depending on your child's underlying diagnosis, associated anomalies and overall lifestyle, we can incorporate medications, diet, activity and lifestyle changes.

Our team works closely with primary care providers to tailor your child's bowel management strategy and ensure coordinated care for your child. We offer feedback based on evaluations, interpret diagnostic studies and recommend referrals to other specialists as needed.
