Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center
If your child has hemophilia or another inherited bleeding disorder, you will receive the highest level of care at our Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center (HTC) at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). We also treat children with blood clots (thrombosis) or who are at increased risk for blood clots.
Your child’s team will include experts in blood disorders, genetics and more. We will help you understand your child’s disease and counsel your entire family on how to manage the condition. Your child will receive an individualized care plan and support at every level.
We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to answer any questions or to help if your child needs immediate attention.
How we serve you
To give your child the very best care, our doctors, nurses and other experts are grouped into specially trained treatment teams.
Why choose the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center (HTC)
The HTC at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is a part of the national network of federally funded HTCs in the United States. We have extensive experience and the highest level of expertise. In 2023, the HTC proudly celebrated 50 years of providing care to children and adolescents with hemophilia and other inherited bleeding or clotting disorders.
Meet your team
All of the pediatric hematologists in the Division of Hematology at CHOP care for children with bleeding and clotting disorders and belong to the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center team. We utilize a shared practice model, which means that although you will have a primary hematologist, you may be seen by another hematology provider from time to time or during acute care visits.

Transition to adult care
The CHOP Hemostasis and Thrombosis Center is committed to providing comprehensive care for children, adolescents and young adults with bleeding and clotting disorders. Our goal is for our patients to develop independence in their own health care so that they are prepared for a smooth and successful transition to adult care prior to 22 years of age.
