Pharmaceutical Access and Pricing

Pharmaceutical Access and Pricing

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) monitors a number of issues related to pharmaceutical pricing and access for children. One key program is the federal 340B Drug Pricing Program, which provides lifesaving outpatient medications at discounted rates to safety net providers, including children’s hospitals.

With these discounted rates, the program allows enrolled hospitals, including CHOP, to provide these reduced-price drugs to patients while expanding comprehensive health services and offsetting losses from serving patients who cannot pay.

CHOP also continues to actively explore other ways to make access to life-saving medications more affordable for patients.
