RN Exchange Program

About the program

The RN Exchange Program is a unique opportunity for nurses to seek, share and learn best practices with colleagues at other pediatric institutions. Candidates discuss similarities and differences in their work experiences and levels of professional development.

Home Hospital

The ‘home’ hospital is responsible for notifying the ‘host’ hospital of the selected candidate and covering the cost of travel and salary support.

Host Hospital

The ‘host’ hospital is responsible for developing a tailored itinerary and opportunities based on the candidate’s interests in addition to coordinating lodging and transportation throughout the stay.

After the Exchange

After the exchange, nurses provide direct feedback about their experience and complete a program survey. They also share their experience with their enterprise in a public forum and are provided resources to implement processes or a desired change rooted in evidence-based practice.

Objectives of the program

  • Promote nursing satisfaction with a unique professional advancement opportunity
  • Actively participate in quality improvement processes
  • Provide the opportunity for clinical nurses to seek and share nursing best practices
  • Provide multi-day opportunities to benchmark clinical practice, nursing work environments, leadership and networking
