We are proud to announce that Fred Henretig, M.D., pediatric emergency medicine physician and toxicology expert at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) received the 2024 American Academy of Pediatrics Section on Emergency Medicine’s Steve Miller Award for Excellence in Education and Mentorship today at the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) annual meeting.

“This is a prestigious and well-deserved honor that recognizes Dr. Henretig’s life-long dedication to advancing the emergency medicine subspecialty through education,” said Kevin Osterhoudt, M.D., “I nominated him for his esteemed career and his remarkable contributions to the field of pediatric emergency medicine.”

The award recognizes an individual who has made substantial educational and mentorship contributions in pediatric emergency medicine and celebrates the life of Steven Miller, MD, FAAP who died unexpectedly in 2004. Dr. Miller was a consummate and inspirational educator.  He served as Director of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Morgan-Stanley Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian Hospital and was known for teaching his students to not only be “good doctors” but also to be “compassionate people”.
