On a gorgeous October morning at Lincoln Financial Field, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s (CHOP) 23rd Annual Buddy Walk & Family Fun Day took place benefiting the hospital’s Trisomy 21 (Down syndrome) Program, supporting healthier futures for patients and helping to improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome. Over the past 22 years, the event has generated $4.6 million and this year, $365,000+ was raised, a record-breaking amount!
More than 3,000 participants and 150 teams, including individuals with Down syndrome, their families and community supporters, as well as our patient champions, took part in the event, raising funds for life-changing care, education and research that make it possible for patients to experience the joys of childhood and flourish in adulthood.
As the staple fundraising event for the Trisomy 21 Program at CHOP, which serves more than 2,500 families, the Buddy Walk & Family Fun Day, promotes acceptance and inclusion of people with Trisomy 21, and celebrates children and adults with Down syndrome and their families. The event, established in 2002, is a morning filled with exciting activities for the entire family, including moon bounces, carnival games, character appearances, food, entertainment and a silent auction, also supports the National Down Syndrome Society.
