Dr. Christopher Cielo, Director of CHOP’s Sleep Center and an attending pulmonologist in the Division of Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine at CHOP, was featured August 14 on Fox29 Philadelphia offering tips on getting children back on a sleep schedule for the new school year.
Dr. Cielo explained to Fox29 Philadelphia that younger children typically need 10 to 12 hours of sleep, while teenagers require 8 to 10 hours. He recommends parents gradually move bedtimes and wake-up times earlier, maintaining a consistent bedtime routine and removing electronics 30-60 minutes before bed.
