About Keith D. Baldwin, MD, MPH, MSPT
Keith Baldwin, MD, MSPT, MPH, is an orthopedic surgeon who specializes in the treatment of traumatic, spinal conditions, and cerebral palsy in children. From a young age, Dr. Baldwin knew he was intrigued by the musculoskeletal system. Following college, he pursued this passion at Widener University with a degree in Physical Therapy, a career which he enjoyed thoroughly with its direct patient contact and emphasis on function.
While working as a physical therapist, Dr. Baldwin decided to pursue a career in medicine, to be able to offer his patients a wider spectrum of options to manage their musculoskeletal problems, as well as reach a broader population. In medical school Dr. Baldwin pursued an MPH which focused on biostatistics. This allowed him to broaden his scope even further, and to assess critically, and promote and produce research which drives the field forward to assess which treatments best benefit patients and which ones do not.
While in residency, Dr. Baldwin became interested in traumatic disorders and scoliosis, along with neuromuscular deformities. After completing his residency at the University of Pennsylvania, he continued at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where his fellowship training focused on the treatment of scoliosis and trauma.

Currently Dr. Baldwin focuses his practice on patients with spinal deformity, traumatic injuries, and surgical treatment of cerebral palsy. "My goal is to provide the patient with the best chance not to need surgery, and if they do ultimately require surgery, I want to provide the safest possible care, with gold standard treatments, and strive for the best personalized patient experience for the patient and their family" says Dr. Baldwin.
Dr. Baldwin has treated patients at CHOP since 2011. During that time, he served as the Director of Clinical Research, and currently serves as the Director of Orthopedic Trauma, Clinical Outcomes Committee representative, and current hospital Safety Officer for the Department of Orthopedic Surgery.
He has authored over 200 peer reviewed papers, and numerous prestigious book chapters. He was awarded a grant from the Scoliosis Research Society to continue his research on non-operative care of scoliosis, and has authored numerous publications on safety in pediatric spine surgery.
Dr Baldwin serves on the review board of multiple distinguished journals, including Spine Deformity, the Journal of Orthopedic Trauma, and The Journal of Children's Orthopedics, and is an associate editor of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Reviews. He also works closely with multiple national study groups concerned with the study of scoliosis and injuries in children.
Dr. Baldwin has been an invited speaker at national and international meetings. He is the past president of the Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Association and Health Policy Director of that organization. He has given numerous presentations at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Orthopaedic Trauma Association (OTA), Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America (POSNA), American Association of Pediatrics (AAP), Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation Association (ORA). Dr. Baldwin has served as representative to the National Orthopaedic Leadership Council in Washington, D.C., to lobby lawmakers for the interests of pediatric orthopedic patients across the country.
Locally, Dr. Baldwin has been recognized by multiple outlets for excellence in the field of pediatric orthopedic care as well as the care of scoliosis, trauma and cerebral palsy. Dr. Baldwin has won multiple "Top Doc" awards from outlets like Philadelphia Magazine, NJ Family and most recently NJ Monthly. CHOP and Penn collaborate to offer one of the only transitional programs for children with cerebral palsy in the country. “It is ideal to continue to care for the same children under your care as a child and continue to have the ability to see them as needed when they are adults" says Dr. Baldwin. "I am honored to help transition these patients and help them with their continued orthopedic surgical needs, in concert with Penn physical medicine and rehabilitation which provide non-surgical care to these patients transitioning to adulthood."

Dr. Baldwin has lived in the New Jersey area for more than 25 years in central and southern New Jersey. When not caring for children with spinal deformity, traumatic conditions and cerebral palsy, Dr. Baldwin enjoys cooking, exercising and spending time with his own children.
