Dr. Benton Awarded for Suicide Prevention, Awareness Work

Tami D. Benton, MD, psychiatrist-in-chief, executive director and chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences was selected by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, Greater Philadelphia Chapter for the Community Impact Award for outstanding contributions in suicide prevention and awareness made to the Greater Philadelphia Region. Dr. Benton’s scholarly work in adolescent suicide prevention and her passion to help turn the tide on suicide statistics brought forth a powerhouse of organizations ready to mobilize combined efforts to address this serious health crisis. Under Dr. Benton’s leadership strong contenders such as The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, County Suicide Task Forces, Department of Behavioral Health, the PA Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative, Drexel University, Jefferson University and other stakeholders will work more closely to reduce the suicide rates in the Philadelphia area.
