About Tami D. Benton, MD
Tami D. Benton, MD, is the Psychiatrist-in-Chief and Chair of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DCAPBS) at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She is a Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. She also serves as President of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP). Dr. Benton’s career has been dedicated to developing leadership for a diverse child psychiatry workforce. Her mission, preparing the next generation of diverse physician leaders in pediatric healthcare and mental health and creating partnerships between communities and academic centers, is critical for eliminating disparities among minority and underserved populations.
Dr. Benton specializes in working with children from underserved urban communities. She works with the entire family or support system to improve the lives of children.
