The ceremony featured speeches from staff and families who have personal ties to the SDU.

The SDU was the world’s first comprehensive medical unit for healthy mothers carrying babies with known birth defects. Within the SDU, all babies either undergo fetal surgery to treat a condition before birth or require specialized care immediately after birth.

CBS3 reported on this recent milestone.
