University City
The Main Campus of Children’s Hospital is in a section of West Philadelphia known as the University City District. University City is a large, culturally dynamic neighborhood, full of museums, theater programs, Victorian townhouses, apartment buildings and commercial areas. The neighborhood is conveniently located near both Center City Philadelphia and the city's many suburban communities.
The Hospital's proximity to and affiliation with the University of Pennsylvania also offers access to excellent professional resources, including outstanding libraries and laboratories.
Visiting Philadelphia
Philadelphia is an ethnically diverse city that is proud of its history. Historical landmarks, such as the Betsy Ross House, the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall are popular with visitors.
Philadelphia also boasts the largest urban park in the world, Fairmount Park, which maintains more than 100 miles of trails for running, cycling and riding. Near Fairmount Park are the Philadelphia Museum of Art and Boathouse Row, two of Philadelphia’s most recognizable landmarks.
Philadelphia is easily reached by air, rail and car, and offers an extensive system of public transportation.
